Chester is second best place to live in North West 2018
Great news for those lucky enough to live in Chester or indeed potential buyers for property in the Chester. area.
The Sunday Times have just announced that Chester ranks second in the North West in the best places to live just behind Altrincham.
They also predict that the North West will see the biggest property price rises in the UK in the next five years.
They set out just a few reasons why Chester is so popular.
“This prosperous and well-preserved walled city on the River Dee — handy for Manchester and Liverpool, but beholden to neither — has added a 21st-century gloss to an illustrious history that dates back to Roman times. The fabled and gabled black-and-white buildings in the centre (they’re Victorian, rather than Tudor) make a pretty backdrop for a coffee at Cinderbox or the Jaunty Goat, posh nosh at Joseph Benjamin or the Chef’s Table, or just an indulgent browse in cheese, chocolate or whisky and cigar shops.
"Two modern property tribes are keeping the ancient town’s market moving. Cultured downsizers are swapping big houses in the countryside for new flats overlooking the river or racecourse; two-bedders cost up to £500,000. And occasional commuters are moving their families to walkable mini suburbs such as Handbridge and Hoole.
"Good schools add to the allure: the King’s and Queen’s schools are leading independents (Queen’s is girls only), while Christleton High is the preferred state option, rated outstanding by Ofsted.”
All of this is so positive and of course resident’s will have plenty of other reasons why they enjoy Chester so much. The future seems very bright.
